inheritance (Num. 18:21)

B. New Testament – Change in
Emphasis
1. No longer to the Levites exclusively. Paul was of the
tribe of Benjamin.
2. Less a matter of duty and more a matter of love and respect. (Mat 23:23 NIV) "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
3. Poor and down trodden as well as widows and orphans. (Luke 14:13 NIV) But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind. (Gal 2:10 NIV) All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

IV. To whom
A. To God A church held a worship service
patterned after those in Colonial America. The pastor dressed in a long coat
and knickers, and the congregation was divided by gender: men on the left side
of the aisle and women on the right.
At
collection time, the pastor announced that this, too, would be done in the old
way. He asked the "head of the household" to come forward and place
the money on the altar. The men instantly rose. To the amusement of the entire
congregation, many of them crossed the aisle to get the money from their wives.

A. As God provides
1. We have different gifts,
according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it
in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching,
let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing
to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him
govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Rom.
12:6-9)
2. In keeping with your means
(1 Cor 16:2)
3. As you sow, so shall you
reap (2 Cor. 9:6)
4. 168 hours per week
i. 50 hours work leaves 118
hours
ii. 58 hours sleep leaves 60
